Hello Glenavon Residents

Good things are happening in Glenavon.  For example, you may have noticed that there is a lot less tagging around.

The Glenavon Komuniti Hub is up and running.  The Glenavon Community Trust has been busy converting the old school dental clinic into a community hub.  Currently Plunket and B4 School Health Checks are two services offered from the building.  The Plunket nurse is there on the first Monday of every month (except during school holidays).  If you would like to make an appointment to see her, phone 627-9760.

Have Your Say!

Informal community meeting 31 August, 6pm, at the Hub (the small building right at the front of the school property).  Come and give us your ideas about how we can make our community better.   Glenavon Community Trust AGM is at 7pm.  If you come for the meeting you don't have to stay for the AGM.

Free soup and bread!

Mothers' Coffee Group

There is a great network of friendly mums in this community.  Come and get to know other mums at the mums' coffee group, every 2nd Friday at the Hub.
27 August, 10 & 24 September, 8 & 22 October.

Run by Ana Koloamatangi.

Neighbourhood Support Report

Neighbourhood Support is going well.  Recently some locals were caught doing a burglary.  The Police came quickly, offenders were arrested and property returned to its owners.  Thanks to those residents willing to stick up for their neighbours.

If you see an unfamiliar car that's been sitting around for a while, give the Police a call on 302-6400.  They can tell you if it's stolen and get it back to its rightful owner.  Stolen cars do get dumped in our area, so keep an eye out.

Remember:
  • WHEN crime or suspicious activity is happening, no matter how minor you think it is - ring 111.
  • AFTER its happened and there's no chance of catching anybody in the act – ring 302-6400 to report.

WANTED! Community Minded People

If you are interested in helping out in your community, and would like to get to know other like-minded people, or even run a community activity yourself, come along to our community meeting on 31 August.  We look forward to meeting you!
