Glenavon community welcomes first residents

3 September 2019 | 1 minute  read

The new Housing New Zealand development in Holbrook Street, Glenavon, has had its first eleven families move in.

A group of locals - from young to old - representing several community organisations including Glenavon Community Trust, Glenavon school, Glenavon Early Childhood Centre, Women at the HUB, Blockhouse Bay Baptist, as well as Housing New Zealand, gathered to welcome Glenavon’s newest residents to the community and deliver gift baskets.

The Housing NZ representative who addressed the group said that being part of this experience was truly heart-warming, and spoke about the importance of working together with the community to make this transition as comfortable as possible for the new families

Organiser Eva WongChiu from the Glenavon Community Hub, was thrilled with how the day went, commenting “Moving into a new area can be a real challenge for people, and we just want to make sure our new families know that they are welcome, and to encourage them to be part of our community.”
